Poesia Brossa

06 March to 28 June 2015

Artists

Joan Brossa

MACBA presents Poesia Brossa, an exhaustive review of the work of this artist from his first books to his latest plastic research, going through the theater, cinema, music, action arts, gestures of which he was a pioneer.
It might seem obvious to acknowledge in Joan Brossa (Barcelona, 1919/98), above all, a poet, but we believe that it is necessary to emphasize it in relation to his way of doing, his poiesis. The exhibition wants to put into dialogue and confront his work with the poetry of artists such as Marcel Mariën, Nicanor Parra and Ian Hamilton-Finlay, and also with poets of Letrism, Visual Poetry, Concrete, Experimental, Expanded Poetry or Fluxus. Brossa is a poet, but his works are always at the crossroads of languages. Frequent collaborator of other artists, as well as musicians, filmmakers, dancers, comedians and even magicians, his work constantly plays to break the conventions and the boundaries between disciplines.
